While #1, #2, #3 (2009-2011)

While # 1, # 2 and # 3 accordion book series exhibit hand-made drawings on both sides of the paper. Images are based on the idea of a dialogue between an old man and a young girl. Drawings contemplate the concept of time from two different angles. Pictures are divided into pages by the folds

In “While #1” the man and the girl are lying on their back on the grass looking up towards the sky and the surrounding forest. Drawing on the other side shows the landscape and the birds sitting in the trees. In these drawings events are simultaneous and one moment is described in many aspects.

Following books describe time in consecutive events. “While #2” represents the girl surrounded with the pink, flowering trees. On the other side of the paper scenery is changed by wind blowing on flowers, leaves, and on the girl’s hair. In “While #3” the old man is lying on the bed watching smoke rising from his tobacco. On the other side smoke covers the image area almost entirely, making the scene misty and almost unreal.
